Overview
Create an import when you need to bring external audience data into Permutive. This guide walks you through the Dashboard setup process for both Google Cloud Storage (GCS) and LiveRamp imports.Prerequisites:
- Access to the Permutive Dashboard with appropriate permissions
- For GCS imports: Details about your data provider or partner
- For LiveRamp imports: Your LiveRamp Organization ID (not Workspace ID)
When to Create an Import
Create a new import when you want to:- Connect a new data partner: Receive audience segments from a second-party data partner
- Import CRM data: Bring in subscriber lists, customer segments, or membership tiers
- Add third-party enrichment: Layer data provider segments onto your audiences
- Set up LiveRamp integration: Receive data through LiveRamp’s distribution network
Setup Steps
Navigate to Imports
In the Permutive Dashboard, go to Connectivity > Imports. This page displays your existing imports and allows you to create new ones.
Select Import Source
Choose your import source type:
- Google Cloud Storage: For direct file uploads from your systems or partners
- LiveRamp: For receiving data through LiveRamp’s distribution network
Configure Data Provider
Enter a Data Provider Name that identifies the source of this data. This name helps you organize imports from different partners (e.g., “CRM Subscribers”, “Partner X Demographics”, “LiveRamp Intent Data”).
Set Default Segment Lifetime
Configure the default Segment Lifetime (TTL) for imported segments. This determines how long users remain in a segment after import. The default is 60 days, but you can set any value between 1 and 365 days.
Complete Source-Specific Configuration
For GCS imports:
- The wizard will display your unique GCS bucket path where files should be uploaded
- You’ll receive service account credentials for programmatic access
- Note these details—you’ll need them for uploading data
- Enter your LiveRamp Organization ID
- This is your organization identifier in LiveRamp, NOT your Permutive workspace ID
After Creating an Import
Once your import is created:- Set up your taxonomy to define what segment codes mean
- Upload data (GCS) or wait for data delivery (LiveRamp)
- Verify segments appear in the Dashboard under your import
